The Northampton & District Rugby Alliance welcomed The Offload Society to Daventry RFC for an entertaining and competitive fixture, with the visitors ultimately proving too strong on the day, running out 46–20 winners.
The Offload Society arrived with a wealth of experience in their ranks, including a host of former Daventry 1st XV players from the Lewis Shield-winning side of two years ago. Their familiarity with the surroundings, combined with their quality and experience, was always going to provide a stern test for the Alliance.
The Alliance side battled throughout and showed plenty of spirit, refusing to give up despite the visitors' attacking quality. There were some excellent passages of rugby from the Alliance, with the team continuing to compete right through to the final whistle.
However, the experience and class within the Offload Society squad eventually told, as they converted their opportunities and established a healthy lead before finishing the game as 46–20 winners.
Despite the result, the fixture provided a great opportunity for players from across the Alliance to come together, compete against a strong and experienced opposition, and enjoy another excellent occasion at Daventry RFC.
A big thank you goes to Daventry RFC for hosting the fixture and to both teams for contributing to an enjoyable afternoon of rugby.
